Capturing the atmosphere of post-Liberation Paris, a city caught in the sweep of cultural change, vibrant with art and fueled by the enthusiasm of the "café society", the aprés-guerre spirit remains alive in the streets of the Rive Gauche. Cafés such as the Flore in Saint-Germain-des-Prés saw the likes of Jean-Paul Sartre, Boris Vian and Juliette Gréco all partake in the ambiance. The city also brought forth the iconic names of haute couture: Dior, Balenciaga, Givenchy... Audrey Hepburn, with her nine Paris-filmed movies, became an eternal ambassador of the city's fashion, and of Givenchy's legendary gowns of the '50s. Her famous phrase still rings true: "Paris is always a good idea."
